Del Mar Union to buy land for school via mitigation agreement

The Del Mar Union School District board last week approved the purchase of a 10.5-acre property in Pacific Highlands Ranch from Pardee Homes as it prepares to begin construction on the district’s ninth school this year.

The purchase of the property for school No. 9 is governed by a 1998 mitigation agreement. The design for the 61,215-square-foot school by OBR Architecture has been evolving since community design meetings began last spring. The district plans to break ground on the new school in fall/winter 2020 and welcome new students in fall 2022.
