Students at a Modesto elementary school returned to class Tuesday after a large fire, that was lit intentionally, destroyed several classrooms over the winter break. Officials at Bret Harte Elementary School only had two weeks to make the necessary repairs and clean up the damaged campus before students returned so the fire wasn’t a big distraction for the children. Six portable classrooms were brought onto campus — two of them will replace the fifth-grade classrooms that burned, and the other four will be used as the library and computer lab.
