U.S. EPA will be offering a free training on environmental health issues frequently encountered during school renovations. The training is intended for school facility managers, environmental health staff, administrators, and other school district professionals. Topics such as protecting indoor air quality, asbestos & lead paint regulations, energy efficiency, mold, PCBs, environmental risk assessment, and green school design will be covered.
The workshop will include case studies from successful renovations, interactive workshop activities, opportunities for peer to peer exchange, expert panelists, and staff from regulatory agencies (US EPA, Department of Toxic Substances Control, and CA Dept. of Education) to answer questions. The training builds off of EPA’s “Sensible Guide for Healthier School Renovations” and “Energy Savings Plus Health” documents.
The Healthy School Renovation Workshop will be held at the Los Angeles Federal Building, 300 North Los Angeles St., Room 8529 on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM (PDT).
